Is your floor a candidate?
Most solid hardwood can be sanded several times. Engineered hardwood depends on the thickness of its wear layer. We check board thickness, loose or damaged boards, and old repairs during the walk-through and tell you plainly if refinishing makes sense.
Repairs before sanding
Damaged boards are cut out and woven in, loose boards are re-fastened, and gaps are addressed before the floor is sanded, so the new finish goes over a sound floor.
Stain and finish
We lay out stain samples on your actual floor, because the same color reads differently on red oak, white oak and pine. Finish sheen and type are chosen for how the room is used.

Questions about hardwood refinishing
Can you match new hardwood to my existing floor?
Usually, yes. When new boards are woven into an existing floor and the whole area is sanded and finished together, the transition becomes much less visible.
Do I need to move out during refinishing?
The refinished rooms are off limits until the finish has cured enough to walk on. We schedule around that and list the timing in the bid.
